Fifty-eight suspected child predators were arrested after a five-day undercover operation in Marion County in which investigators posed as children as young as 7 online, Florida authorities said.

The suspects allegedly engaged in sexually explicit conversations and arranged meetings despite being told they were communicating with minors, law enforcement officials announced on Thursday in Ocala. They were taken into custody when they arrived at predetermined locations. Officials said some of those arrested had regular access to children, including parents and teachers.

The operation, dubbed “Operation Bad Habits,” ran from June 1 through June 6, and is being described as the largest Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) operation in Marion County history.

Charges vary but largely include using a computer to solicit or lure a child, traveling to meet a minor for sexual activity, and using communication devices to facilitate felonies. Some suspects also face additional charges such as kidnapping, transmitting harmful material to minors, human trafficking-related offenses, weapons violations, drug possession and probation violations.

“With nearly 1,700 predators arrested since I took office, we are just getting started,” Attorney General James Uthmeier said. “58 more child predators are behind bars and away from our kids because Florida has the best sheriffs in the nation who continue to put themselves in harm’s way to keep our kids safe.”

A man who told investigators he was a retired analyst at the FBI was one of five people arrested in a child solicitation sting.

Fifty-sex-year-old Brian Pead was caught being inappropriate and trying to lure young teens by an undercover cop who was posing as a teenager. Pead worked as a therapist for a counseling agency for children and teens. Pead insists that the messages he was sending to the undercover cop were for “research for his job.” Pead was then given a 36-month supervision order after trying to convince a child to engage in sexual activity. In today's true crime documentary, we're covering the case of Jason Vukovich and analyzing it from an educational psychological perspective.

On July 31st, 2025, in Portage County, Wisconsin, officers responded to a computer repair shop after the owner discovered disturbing images on a customer’s laptop while attempting to back up his files. This footage is of the events that followed.

A Florida man was arrested for having 'disturbing' child pornography. Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier said the man contacted kids on social media apps, TikTok and Discord.

On July 8th, 2022, police responded to a call for a report of a suspicious male wandering around the neighborhood. While en route, dispatch advised that they had been getting calls about the same suspect for weeks. The suspect, later identified as Timothy Nielsen, was looking for a 12-year-old girl who he found online. Nielsen came across the girl’s YouTube channel and would leave inappropriate comments on her channel. That’s when her parents decided to take the YouTube page down. Over the years, Nielsen would disguise himself as someone else and contact the girl on her other social media platforms. He would try to contact friends of friends until he was able to locate the area she lived in. That’s when Nielsen would travel from Oregon to Ohio to try and find her.

Nielsen was arrested and transported to the Medina County Jail. He was charged with two counts of menacing by stalking and one count of importuning. On December 22nd, 2022 he was sentenced to 4 and a half years in prison followed by five years of post-release control. He will also be required to register as a tier 1 sex offender.
